The Falls Church Story
It began a few years ago after a worship service in Sioux Falls where Lance Rensch was preaching and Joe Garcia was the musical guest. Their years of friendship and ministry connection surfaced into the idea of starting a church together. As time went on, both their families realized there was more to the idea than a couple of guys saying, "Hey, wouldn't that be a blast?" The Lord's hand was with them and resources and favor were following this adventure.
In the spring of 2006 they gathered with a small group of people in a three car garage to minister and explore the possibilities of a new church plant. Once Joe and Lance actually moved to Sioux Falls, the first gatherings began at a downtown hotel that fall. Through the winter a fresh group of Christ followers formed the core group that would launch this fellowship.
In January of 2007 the leadership team found a commercial space that could serve as a temporary location and made plans to officially launch falls church. After a speedy renovation the energetic believers came together for the first Sunday morning service April 15, 2007. Since that opening week rapid growth has lead falls church to enlarge its campus and add additional services. This spring the church flipped an empty warehouse into an innovative and creative ministry facility. The new space gave the church an eye catching auditorium, a cyber café and a perfect location for fresh ground Starbucks. The youth department has completed an interactive student worship and recreation facility. The kid’s ministry team built a state of the art kid's chapel, a cozy nursery, and colorful toddler and pre-school rooms. Each room is equipped with a security camera system so families can relax and worship.
Now there is a healthy, growing, and fully staffed church that has begun to form a joyful and fresh spirit in Sioux Falls. Relevant dynamic preaching, passionate heartfelt worship, engaging youth ministry, and a caring fun kid's ministry, and that's just the first chapters of this must see story.
